Rye Barcott
Rye Barcott is author of It Happened on the Way to War, a recently released, best-selling memoir that Archbishop Desmond Tutu called "tremendous," and Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency author Alexander McCall Smith acclaimed as "an unforgettable odyssey." Rye will speak about his experience co-founding Carolina For Kibera as a nonprofit to prevent ethnic and gender violence in Nairobi while also serving as a U.S. Marine. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Rye is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and TED Fellow. He lives in Charlotte with his wife and daughter and works in the Sustainability Office of Duke Energy.
