Dr. Pisano started her new position this summer. She is an expert in breast cancer imaging and from 1989-2005 was Chief of Breast Imaging at UNC Hospitals. In 2003, she became the first Director of the UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center, which develops and commercializes new imaging technologies. While there, she raised more than $20 million for its work. In 2008, she was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Recently she co-founded her own company, NextRay, Inc, which will commercialize a new breast imaging device that she developed with her co-founders.
